Zellweger syndrome means: Zellweger syndrome. One of several related disorders called Peroxisome Biogenesis Disorders PBD. These are inherited diseases that cause damage to myelin and alter the metabolism of certain substances. The symptoms include an enlarged liver and high blood levels of copper and iron, as well as vision problems. You can get it from mutations in many genes. Zellweger syndrome is incurable. It is a poor prognosis, and death can occur within six months.
