Walking pneumonia means: Walking pneumonia is a lay term that refers to an atypical form of pneumonia. It doesn’t usually require hospitalization or bedrest. Pneumonia refers to an infection of your lungs. Atypical pneumonia is caused by bacteria such as Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Legionella pneumophila. The mildest symptoms are usually associated with Mycoplasma or Chlamydophila-caused pneumonia. The symptoms most commonly associated with pneumonia include fever, chills, cough, shortness or breathlessness, and a feeling of nausea. Common symptoms include muscle aches, loss of appetite and muscular pains. The treatment involves fever-lowering medications and antibiotics.
