Vanishing lung syndrome means: The Vanishing Lung Syndrome: An X-ray syndrome where the lungs seem to disappear. This syndrome causes a gradual decrease in radiographic transparency of the lung. The rapid progression of emphysema that causes the destruction of the lung can be caused by either infection or emphysema. Miroslav Holub (1923-1998), Czech physician, poet, immunologist and writer, published a book of poetry entitled “Vanishing Lung Syndrome”.
