Schools of the Prophets means in the bible: This is the name used for groups of prophets, or “sons of prophets”, who lived together to worship and instruct Samuel, Elijah and Elisha. Although little is known, it seems that these schools were important religious institutions in Israel. 1 Sam frequently refers to them. 10:11; 19:19-20; 2 Kgs. 2:3, 5; 4:38; 6:1. Some “sons of prophets” did not claim to possess a supernatural gift. They were just trained as religious teachers. A few inspired prophets, however, had no formal training.
