Sadducees means in the bible: An ethnic group of Jews that is a party or caste. Name likely derived from Zadok who was Solomon’s high priest. This party was made up of high-priestly family members who had migrated to the front in the Maccabean War. Although they were small, they formed the Jewish aristocracy. They adhered to the Mosaic revelation in their religious treatment and rejected ancient tradition. Their influence was the reason that Greek culture spread to Israel. They opposed our Lord because of His cleansing of the temple which they considered an infringement of their rights. Because they taught the Resurrection Acts 4-3, 23:7-8 and Mark 12:18-24 respectively, the Apostles were opposed to their work.
