Proselytes means in the bible: Gentile men who were incorporated in the Jewish church. Admission ceremonies included baptism, circumcision and sacrifice. The Mosaic laws were to be observed by them. Although they were few, these proselytes are rare. However, the Jews displayed great enthusiasm in their attempts to get them Matt. 23:15. These were not the only ones. Many “God-fearing”, or “devout,” Gentiles were also attached to Jewish synagogues. They attended services, but did not observe all of the ritual law. This type of man is mentioned in many New Testament Acts, 10:2, 22, 13, 16, 26, 43, 50, 16:14, 27, 43, 46, 47, 50, 16:14, 17:4, 17, 18:7.
