Histories: In 1958, Wilson Greatbatch invented the internal pacemaker. He installed the incorrect resistance when he was building an oscillator that could record the heart beats. The unit began emitting an electrical pulse. Greatbatch saw that this device could regulate the heart, and he created the first ever implantable pacemaker. Greatbatch invented the lithium-ion battery that is free from corrosion to power the pacemaker.
