Moab means in the bible: The eldest son of Lot’s oldest daughter, Gen. 19:37. Moab was located east of the Dead Sea. Moabites, who were similar to Israelites in language and culture but with a distinct Hebrew-like dialect, caused constant war between Num. 22-25; Judg. 3:12-30; 11:17; 2 Sam. 8:2; 2 Kgs. 3:6-27; 13:20; 24:2; 1 Chr. 18:2; 2 Chr. 20:1-25.
