Laryngeal palsy means: The larynx vocal box paralysis is called laryngeal palsy. It’s caused either by damage to the parent nerve (the vagus nerve) or the recurrent nerve. This nerve supplies the voice box. Laryngeal Palsy is a condition in which the larynx becomes paralyzed at the site where the recurrent nerve to the larynx has been affected. This can also happen if the problem was caused by damage to the vagus. The recurrent nerve may be damaged by diseases within the chest such as cancer, an aneurysm in the arch of aorta or an aneurysm in the left atrium.
