Hivites means in the bible: A Canaanitish race Gen. 10:17; 34:2; Ex. 3:8, 17; 13:5; Josh. 9:7; 11:19. 9:7; 11:19. A colony Hivites settled in Gibeon made a treaty to Joshua after deceiving him through a strategym. But the majority of them appear to have been in northern Palestine, Josh. 11:3; Judg. 3:3; 2 Sam. 24:7.
