facing fabric means: Fashion designers use a combination of two functions for ‘facing fabric. The ‘facing fabric is used to finish the edges of garments, such as at the necklines or armholes. Shaped facings made of the same fabric as the garment are designed to fit the edges they face. Bias facings are fabric strips cut on the bias, or cross-grain. They are not cut to match edges, but are formed. The ‘face’ side of fabric can also be called ‘facing fabric’. It is usually the upper, more attractive side of a fabric.
