Esdraelon means in the bible: Jezreel is the Greek translation of Hebrew Jezreel. It is known as the “great plain Esdraelon”, which is also called the “valley Megiddo” in the Old Testament. This divides the hills from Samaria and the ones of Galilee, and it is the most fertile area of Palestine. You could cross it by many important roads, and this made it a battlefield for Judg. 4; 5; 7; 1 Sam. 31; 2 Chr. 31; 2 Chr. 16:16. Also see Megiddo and Armageddon.
