Caleb means in the bible: One of the chiefs of tribes, or princes of tribes that Moses sent to explore the Land of Canaan the second year following the Exodus. Joshua and he alone returned a num. 13:6, 30, 14:6-38. They were the only ones who survived 40 years of wilderness living in Egypt. 26:65; 32:12; Deut. 1:36. Caleb got Hebron Josh after he entered Canaan. 14:6-14; 15:13-19; 21:12; Judg. 1:12-15; 20; 21:12; Judg. 25:3; 30:14.
