Abuse, child means: Child abuse: This includes child neglect, physical, emotional and sexual abuse. While most people associate child abuse with physical abuse, it is only one percent of all reported cases. Although physical abuse can be defined as injury to the child that is inflicted with cruelty and/or malicious intent, it may also include excessive discipline or punishment. A child may be physically abused by punching, hitting, biting or burning him/her. Traumas to the head, chest or abdomen, severe traumas (shaken baby syndrome), poisoning, drowning and suffocation can all be deadly. Reporting child abuse and having it investigated should be done immediately.
